Horticultural Manager (Garden Centre)\n\nLocation: Warrington\n Salary: £31,200+ DOE (£16ph - flexibility for the right candidate)\n Hours: 37.5 hours per week, rota basis including alternate weekends\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, independently owned garden centre group with a strong reputation for quality plants, retail standards, and customer service. Family-owned and operating multiple successful sites across the North West, the business has built a loyal customer base through its strong horticultural offering and traditional garden centre values. \n\nThey're looking to appoint a hands on Manager to lead the plant area in a very busy centre of theirs.

You will manage a skilled team, while working closely with senior leadership and the wider buying team.\n\n** To be considered for this position, you must have garden centre experience. **\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManaging the day-to-day running of the outdoor plant department\nLeading and supporting a team of 5 staff, including 2 supervisors\nOverseeing merchandising, stock presentation, and retail standards across seasonal and hardy plant categories\nTaking responsibility for buying within selected seasonal areas, including bedding plants, supported by a central buying structure\nUsing EPOS sales data to support commercial buying decisions and stock flow management\nManaging deliveries, stock control, and plant area organisation\nSupporting wider operational standards across the department during peak trading periods\nWorking closely with senior management and the group plant buying team \n\nWhat They're Looking For\n\nPrevious experience within a garden centre retail environment is essential\nExperience at Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or Plant Manager level\nExposure to plant buying or commercial stock management is highly desirable\nStrong retail awareness with an understanding of seasonal trading and merchandising\nA hands-on management style with the ability to support and motivate a small team\nGood operational and organisational skills within a fast-paced retail environment\nCandidates from independent garden centres or specialist horticultural retailers preferred\nApplicants from DIY retail backgrounds alone (B&Q/Homebase style environments) are unlikely to be suitable \n\nWhy Join?\n\nJoin a respected independent garden centre group with an established reputation across the North West\nOpportunity to take ownership of a key department within a supportive leadership structure\nA combination of autonomy and support from an experienced central buying team\nStable, long-term opportunity within a family-run business\nCompetitive starting salary with performance-based review potential\n28 days holiday, including bank holidays \n\nThis is an urgent hire!
